Pet Wellness Care
We want to be your partner in the care of your pet. Communication is essential in any relationship, and we hope you find value in your pet’s comprehensive exams and check-ups. It is critical to bring your pet to Fitchburg Veterinary Hospital for physical examinations. We provide thorough physical examinations in order to detect potential problems before they become major issues. Many pet health problems can be avoided with regular physical exams, which is why we recommend that your pet be examined by our staff at least twice a year. While physical exams are important for animal health, you can help by being a responsible pet owner.
Whether your pet is a young puppy or a senior, our staff is able to complete the following to make sure your pet is happy and healthy.
Wellness Exams
Regular wellness and preventive care is a collaborative process between you and our team that is critical to keeping your pet healthy and happy.
During your pet’s wellness exam, our Veterinarians will thoroughly examine your pet, perform a careful oral and dental exam, evaluate for infectious diseases and parasites that can harm your pet and your family, and evaluate your pet for pain. We will address any concerns you may have about your pet’s well-being. We recommend biannual senior pet exams and bloodwork.
Vaccinations
Parasite Prevention
You may not always be able to detect parasites in your pet. Fleas can hide under your pet's fur, and some ticks are so small (the size of a pinhead) that they are difficult to detect. Intestinal parasites such as roundworms can cause diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration, and other symptoms, but some infected pets show no symptoms at all.
We can check your pet for fleas, ticks, and other parasites. Our knowledgeable staff can advise you on the best medications to control fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites. Preventing parasites in your pets also protectsprotects children and other family members. “Together, we will keep your pets and family safe.”

Emotional Well-being
Your pet’s emotional health is a fundamental part of his well-being and important for maintaining a healthy animal-human bond. We believe in reducing stress during the veterinary visit and follow Fear Free techniques in the hospital. We recognize anxiety as an important problem in our pets and are skilled in the behavioral, nutritional, and pharmaceutical management of pet anxiety.
