Janeen Smith, DVM
Dr. Smith is a veterinarian with 21 years in practice. She ran her own clinic in Verona, Wisconsin for the past 16 years before becoming a co-owner of our clinic. She has been an innovator, from initiating a house call practice to embracing the latest veterinary techniques. Dr. Smith contributes her business experience to our clinic.
Erika Lukas, DVM, PhD
Erika Lukas is happy to join the medical staff at Fitchburg Veterinary Hospital. Her special interests include behavior, oncology, and natural therapies. Dr. Lukas grew up with horses but now concentrates on companion animals, with a focus on wellness and integrating the pet into the family.
Prior to veterinary training, Dr. Lukas did research in liver cancer at the University of Wisconsin and worked as a veterinary technician in the Department of Oncology at the UW School of Veterinary Medicine. She carries her interest in oncology to clinical companion animal practice. In her free time, Dr. Lukas enjoys relaxing with her family, geocaching, knitting, running, writing, and publishing “Mad Lovin’ Mama”, her independent magazine.
Erica Olsen, DVM
Erica Olsen is excited to be back in the Madison area as a member of the Fitchburg Veterinary Hospital medical staff! After receiving a BS in Zoology from UW Madison, Dr. Olsen graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. While at Illinois, she worked at the Wildlife Medical Clinic, caring for injured and orphaned wild mammals, reptiles, and birds. She is happy to be working with the wide variety of animals Fitchburg sees on a daily basis. In her free time, Dr. Olsen likes to spend time with her family, friends, dog Hunter, cat Max, and three turtles.
Keith Gunby, DVM
Dr. Gunby graduated from the University of Tennessee Veterinary Medicine in 1990. He spend his first decade practicing general medication and his second in emergency and critical care.
Dr. Gunby has a passion for providing his patients with the safest, least painful and most up to date care possible. He began performing minimally invasive surgery in 2007 after receiving advanced training in the use and application of rigid endoscopy. His interest in endoscopy stems from his years of experience performing tradition surgery and understanding how patients from young puppies to senior pets, respond to the trauma associated with necessary procedures. Dr. Gunby is excited to be able to offer a better alternative. His patients include cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits, and other small animals.
Dr. Gunby lives with his wife and four children in their many species of pets, in Mount Horeb.
